April 2015

Hello, 2016-ers!

OMG, I can hardly believe that we are nearing the end of our third year together and you are preparing for the fall semester registration of your final year. As you look at the schedule that is beginning to form, be vigilant about checking your Degree Audit (which you can find if you select “Evaluate Program” from the drop-down menu on TigerPaws) to make sure that you are completing the requirements both for your major and for the Common Curriculum. While your faculty advisor is there to help you with the ins-and-outs of the Trinity Curriculum, ultimately (and officially), YOU are the final arbiter of how well you are fulfilling your requirements. I can’t imagine a more miserable feeling than to be MORE >>

!!! FIESTA !!!

Welcome back from Spring Break! Maybe you went to the beach at South Padre Island or Port Aransas or went snow skiing in New Mexico, Colorado or Idaho. Maybe you went home to be with family or friends. Maybe you just stayed here and chilled. Maybe you spent time with that special someone or found that special someone. Good memories. Whatever you did, I hope you had a great time.

Now that your third year is almost over, it is time to balance fun and future. Looking back, think about how much fun you had during the past three years and what you accomplished. Think about the fun you will have next year. What do you see in your future? What do you want to accomplish during your senior year? What do you need to do that? What will be your motivation? Wow, did March even happen? It must have because we had Spring Break, midterms, the start of March Madness… it’s definitely been a whirlwind of a month, and a lot more is yet to come.

Hopefully you all had a chance to stop by the apartment fair last week to start thinking about what you’re going to do next year when your three year residency requirement is up! Fear not if you haven’t found the right fit off Trinity’s campus because March 30th thru April 2nd will be room reservation! Take a gander at your reservation cheat sheet that was emailed last week to review the process.

*sidenote * Those North dorms are looking mighty fine. There are going to be some lucky seniors in those rooms!

Are you still not sure how you’re going to budget for next year? ResLife will be conducting another Game of Life program on the Esplanade on Wednesday April 8th from 10am to 1pm. Stop by to learn what your potential take-home salary would be, how much health insurance could cost, and if you’re willing to pay for Netflix every month. Oh yeah, and win PRIZES.

Before you know it, it will be Easter, and then it’s the final home stretch to summer vacation!

Don’t forget April’s First Friday Breakfast on April 10th! Get some FREE breakfast tacos and coffee in the Heidi Lounge from 8am to 10:30am.

MARCH SPOTLIGHTS!

Trinity accepted Mayor Ivy Taylor's Veg Out challenge! Nacho Hour and the popular Milk & Cookies was recently transformed into a buffet of healthy delicacies like carrots, celery, pineapples, zucchini bread, hummus and much more! A frequent visitor of Milk & Cookies expressed, "Milk and Cookies was deceptive yet delicious today". : )

Wonder what the Redbox looking contraption is in Coates University Center lobby?
Try it out!

Be sure to check out the amazing student and alumni artwork on the 1st and 2nd floor of Coates University Center!

Get What You Pay For: The Education and the Network

I’m sure you’ve heard at one time or another that it’s not what you know, it’s who you know that really matters. Actually, both understanding concepts and knowing people are necessary in order to succeed. While you may be busy with exams, sporting events, or just hanging out at this point in the semester, I strongly encourage you to make time to get advice from Trinity alumni who are already employed in areas in which you are interested.

You can do this through TRINITYCONNECT – an online resource brought to you by Career Services and Alumni Relations. Use your T-mail address to access the system and to schedule a conversation today. Take advantage of a professional network that has volunteered to share insight and experience with you. Let me know if you need assistance or have any questions.
