Hello,
2016-ers!
Hope you’re
all refreshed after Spring Break and that you’re ready for the home stretch of
the semester. As we approach Fall
Registration, let’s take a moment to revisit some of my Spring Registration
suggestions:
First of
all, begin by perusing your “Program Evaluation ” in TigerPaws. While you will meet with your advisor, it is
imperative that you check your progress periodically and take charge of your
education. Ultimately, you are responsible for fulfilling the
requirements for graduation. more>>

It is very likely you have never heard of the following people:
Army Chief Warrant Officer 3 James E. Groves
Navy Chief Cryptologic Technician Christian M. Pike
Army Specialist David T. Proctor
Army Staff Sergeant Steven P. Blass
Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Bryan J. Henderson
Army Captain Sara M. Knutson
Army Staff Sergeant Marc A. Scialdo
Army Specialist Zachary L. Shannon
They died in support of combat operations in Afghanistan during the week of March 14-20, 2013. Their names are among the 2,178 service members killed in Afghanistan since the beginning of hostilities in October 2001. Another 18,348 have been wounded during this timeframe...many grievously. If you ever venture to Fort Sam Houston, you may see some of these Wounded Warriors. They are remarkably young, and principally of your generation.
I think it appropriate to lift the names of these fallen before you as a simple reminder. We owe them an extraordinary debt of gratitude, as the freedoms we each enjoy are directly linked to their sacrifice. How do you honor their legacy? How do you reflect their commitment to selfless service? Sometimes, I like to think about things like that...I know that each of you can make a difference! Make the best of it!
